Photoshoots can be an incredibly exciting thing. There are many different moving parts in model photography that are all equally important, including make-up. Regular, everyday makeup looks don’t always translate well when it comes to photo shoots. Instead, there are must-know tips to help the camera and photographer make the most out of their images through the use of make-up.

Prime

The first steps in any good makeup application include priming. Start with a face primer to help smooth fine lines and even out skin tone. Moisturizing primers work best because they never make your skin look dry, instead, they give it a nice glow. Once your face is primed, remember to prime your eyelids before applying any other products on them. Eyelid primer helps to keep your eye makeup from moving, and can also make any colors used pop more.

Blend

There is no such thing as a successful make-up look without blending! Blending is one of the most important aspects of makeup applications. After applying foundation to your face, make sure you carry that foundation past your jaw bone, down into your neck. Without this step, your face and body could potentially look like they are two different colors. These same rules apply for eyeshadow and contouring as well. A great rule to follow is if you think you’re finished blending, blend some more.

Frame

For beauty shoots, properly framing your face with the use of make-up is a must. There are many different attributes to this step, starting with bronzer. It always helps to dust some bronzer around the perimeter of your face to give it a slimmer, more flattering effect. On that same note, reinforcing your eyebrows by lightly filling them in will also help to frame your face, especially if they have been partially covered by any foundation.

The final step in framing is all about the lips. Line them gently with some liner, focusing on the the upper V and outer corners. This will help your lips look bigger, and bring some color and life back into them after being covered by any foundation. Framing your face helps make beauty shoots successful.
